A pole dock and ramp system carrying past a long shallow shelf, so the dock is still usable when the lake drops late in the season.
The problem on this property was the shelf. A wide, shallow, rocky apron sat between the shoreline and any real depth — fine in June, useless by September when the water came down and the end of a shorter dock was sitting in a foot of water.
The answer was a pole dock and ramp system that walks straight out over the shelf and puts the usable end in genuine depth. Anchored to the lakebed rather than floating, so it stays exactly where it was put.
The result is a dock you can still bring a boat into late in the season, when the neighbours have run out of water. That is usually the difference between a dock you use for three months and one you use for five.
A straight run out across clear, shallow rock to a T-head that turns the far end into somewhere to sit, swim and tie off.
